Urban Decay Launch Liquid Lipsticks

Is there any better way to start 2017 than with a new cruelty-free beauty launch?

I’d just about calmed down after the news that Kat Von D will be dropping 25 new Everlasting Liquid Lipstick shades throughout 2017 (including a gold foil top coat… obsessed) when Urban Decay low-key announced that they will be launching a brand new Vice Liquid Lipstick range – their first ever.

Posting a video to their Twitter page on Tuesday, Urban Decay gave us a few details about the new Vice Liquid Lipsticks. There will be 30 shades in two finishes, Comfort Matte and Metallised, and the lipsticks are promised to be waterproof, kiss proof and life proof.

From the video, it looks like the shades will cover nudes, pinks and classic reds, as well as blues, metallics and deep plums. The shade range pretty much matches that of Kat Von D and Anastasia Beverly Hills in terms of quantity, and, if Urban Decay’s current lipstick offering is anything to go by, in terms of quality too.

These liquid lipsticks are launching any day now – in fact, by the time you read this, they’ll probably be out. Check out Phyrra for swatches and confirmed vegan shades:

All shades are vegan EXCEPT for Crank, Crimson, Mad, Rock Steady, and Tryst

Until then, why not try these alternative liquid lip offerings?

1. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
I’m sorry-not-sorry to bang on about this brand, but a) I’m obsessed with their rock-chick aesthetic and b) this formula is the best liquid lipstick I’ve ever tried. From the cult Lolita (and my personal favourite, Lolita II) to the range of blues, greens and gold on the way in 2017, no vegan makeup collection is complete without an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in my opinion. Shop them at Debenhams now.

25 NEW @katvondbeauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick shades! They all have different launch dates so I suggest following @katvondbeauty for the best launch updates! I just wanted to show you some awesomeness coming out to look forward to! I threw in a few extra in there, too, cuz I love you: •Gold Skool is a metallic, longwear top-coat, that I'll be launching for @katvondbeauty's 10 year anniversary!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT'S COMING UP?! 🙀 •XO – is the richest ox-blood I've ever worn and is already available in the #BetterTogether collection at sephora. And if you guys love it, I'll make sure to bring it back in full size form! •Lovecraft is gonna be selling individually this Spring. •Plath and Roxy will be launching in full size in Feb! •and the first shades we are launching will be the last 6 nudes at the end of this vid: Muñeca, Ophelia, Ludwig, Sanctuary, Hawkwind, and Crucifix!! I believe they're launching coming up this next week?? Again, I suggest following @katvondbeauty for official release dates, and WAY BETTER swatches than me! 🖤 SONG: "Vision One" by Röyksopp

2. MDM Flow Liquid Lipstick
If you’re looking to support independent brands owned and founded by BAME women (ticks all my boxes), try MDM Flow’s full-coverage, matte liquid lip colours inspired by ‘90s hip-hop. Colours include bright pinks, brown-based nudes and a bold red, all of which are made with synthetic beeswax and were specifically tested to look great on darker skin tones. You can read my interview with founder Florence Adepoju here.

3. MUA Luxe Inked Lip Stain
So these aren’t strictly liquid lipsticks, but I think MUA Luxe’s lip stains are a seriously underrated product. Sold in Superdrug as a slightly more ‘luxe’ branch of the cheaper MUA range, these stains apply like liquid lipsticks with a jelly-like texture. They’re light on the lips and dry down to a matte finish, with a bold but buildable colour. These stains LAST on the lips – seriously, when I swatched the colours on my hand, they lasted two days through multiple showers and hand washes. Did I mention they’re only £4?!
