It’s not often that you hear about a range of vegan-friendly BDSM-inspired accessories, so when an e-mail from Aisha at Bijoux Indiscrets dropped into my inbox last week, my interest was immediately piqued.
Founded in Barcelona in 2006, Bijoux Indiscrets is a company that specialises in erotic and sensual products, from toys to love cosmetics and a huge range of accessories. The brand aim to celebrate female sexuality and pleasure, and their products are designed by women, for women, to empower women. After all, with everything that’s going on in the world right now, there’s no better time to embrace and celebrate your sexuality.
Usually, brands designing luxe BDSM-inspired accessories would use real leather and skins for their designs, making them a no-go for adventurous vegans. But Bijoux Indiscrets’s new MAZE collection, which features chokers, harnesses and more, is 100% vegan friendly and even PETA approved! That’s right, no cows were harmed in the making of your orgasm.
Designed by Bijoux Indiscrets’ co-founder Elsa Viegas, the MAZE collection is described as blending ‘fashion with fetish’ for a range of ‘BDSM-inspired accessories dedicated to self-confident women’. As a brand who have always been committed to animal welfare and the environment, each piece is crafted with vegan leather (polyurethane made with recycled materials) and clasps and rivets made without heavy metals.
MAZE includes 24 pieces, including brown and black harnesses, suspender belts, garters and chokers, which come with or without detachable whip tassels and leashes. The collection also features brown and black restraints and cuffs for ankles and wrists. The fact that you can remove the more bedroom-specific aspects of these accessories means you can also rock them out in public without turning too many heads in the wrong way.
I love the black H Harness over a band tee or a plain black dress, adding a rock’n’roll edge to your casual outfit in less than five seconds. I also can’t get over the Single Choker – it’s SO on trend it (literally) hurts and again effortlessly amps up a casual outfit.
As the brand is Spanish, the website lists prices in Euros, but a quick conversion shows that the chokers come in at about £25.40, the harnesses range from about £38 to £50 and the cuffs are about £30. It’s not dirt cheap but a good product shouldn’t be, and I don’t think those prices are expensive for a feminist, vegan range of erotic accessories. Bijoux Indiscrets do ship to the UK in plain packaging for about £8.50, with a delivery estimate of 2 – 5 days which is super fast. For as long as we’re in the EU (RIP us), we’re also exempt from paying customs.
I also want to mention that Bijoux Indiscrets are doing some great things in terms or exploring what it means to be sexual. As Aisha put it, ‘all of our other products are focused on sensuality, slowing down, exploration and appreciation – not your typical “thrust-thrust-orgasm”‘! The brand also conducted a study titled Fiction v Reality in Sex, part of which involved creating an online Orgasm Sound Library. Needless to say, this site is NSFW or in public, unless you’ve got headphones to hand.
