I always struggle with hand luggage when I go on holiday. I’ve never been a minimalist packer and I use a lot of toiletries, so to get everything under 100ml in one zip-lock bag is a tight squeeze. But whenever I scour the minis section in Superdrug or Boots, most of what I find is tested on animals or full of dodgy ingredients. To save you the search, I’ve rounded up the best cruelty-free and vegan travel friendly buys to pack in your suitcase this summer.
I’ve already raved about Amie and their Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser in my blog on the best budget vegan beauty buys, where I mentioned that Amie offer a Travel/ Trial Duo (10ml) for just £1. While the full-sized products are still really affordable at £4.95 each, the mini versions are great for a weekend trip or short break. The teeny bottles last a surprisingly long time as you don’t need to use a lot of product each day. There’s also a travel-size version of their New Leaf Deep Pore Exfoliating Polish for £1.50 which I haven’t tried yet but is a decent size at 25ml.
Travel-sized sun care is never going to tiny, especially as it’s so important to keep yourself protected from UV rays, but Green People’s Sun Travel Collection (£37.95) are still hand luggage friendly at 100ml each. There’s a Sun Lotion SPF30, Sun Lotion SPF15 with Tan Accelorator (the safe way to bronze) and a Hydrating After Sun in a zip up plastic pouch. If that’s a bit out of your budget, Superdrug sell a range of mini sun care lotions (in both 100ml bottles and 50ml sachets and in SPF15, 30 and 50) for £2.99 or under.
As well as sun care, Green People sell a huge range of skin and hair care under 100ml. The Gentle Cleanse & Make-Up Remover (£12.50 for 50ml) is really soothing on heat-flushed skin, the Quinoa & Artichoke Shampoo and Conditioner (£9.95 for 100ml) is much better than the brand you’ll find in your hotel bathroom and Green People’s sample packs of their product ranges are great if you want to try a little bit of everything while you’re away.
Evolve Organic Beauty
My love for Evolve has been slow and steady. At first I wasn’t so sure if I liked their products, but I’ve now come to the realisation that I love, love, love them. I’ll be picking up their Citrus and African Orange body lotions and washes (£4-£6 for ) as well as a mini bottle of their Hyaluronic Serum (10ml for £12). There’s also micellar waters, dry hair serums and mini gradual tans, all made with organic, natural ingredients.

What is it about a product in mini that makes you want it so much more? This is more beauty than skincare, but Urban Decay’s travel-size products are great to stash in your suitcase whether you’re heading to visit friends for the weekend or travelling halfway around the world. I love their B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray (£10 for 30ml) and have heard only good things about the Travel Size Eyeshadow Primer Potion (£9).
Healgel’s Eye Cream is my absolute favourite so I was really happy to receive a tiny tube of it from their PR agency a little while ago. I can’t see this on sale on the Healgel site, but they are giving away a Treat Yourself sample box when you buy any two products on their website including a 3ml eye cream and 5ml Intensive cream. Get them while stocks last!
You’ll nearly always find Original Source travel-size shower gels in the minis section. My favourite scents are zesty lime or lemon, and 50ml should last you a week. Superdrug’s own-brand shower gels are better value for money, costing the same price (£1.05) for 75ml. I love the Orange and Satsuma scent.
Can Sephora please just come over to the UK already? Their own Sephora make-up line is tested on animals so I steer clear of that, but there loads of great cruelty-free brands you can shop there, including travel-size sets of products for a really fair price – anyone who’s visited the store IRL knows that the aisle before the till is way too tempting. Look out for Beautyblender, Kat Von D, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Tarte, Josie Maran, Murad, Ren, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Tatcha and more. Phew.
